Two weeks before a Diablo expansion is when I stop messing around and start fixing my account. April 28, 2026 is close enough now that every bad stash habit and every skipped objective starts to matter. If you're planning to hit the Isles of Skovos hard, this is the window to get ready, not later. I've already been checking my Diablo 4 Items setup, trimming dead weight, and making sure I'm not walking into Lord of Hatred with a pile of stuff that looked useful three seasons ago.
Sort your gear before the patch sorts it for youThe first job is simple. Open the stash and be honest. A lot of players keep Mythics because they were rare, not because they're still good. That's how tabs get clogged. I go piece by piece and ask one question: would I actually equip this while leveling the new expansion or testing a fresh endgame build? If the answer's no, it gets salvaged. Holding onto a few flexible, high-value items makes sense. Hoarding ten versions of the same almost-good drop doesn't. More often than not, those extra scraps turn into the currency you'll wish you had on day one.
Bank resources and finish what the season still offersAfter that, I switch to materials, gold, and anything tied to upgrading. Big updates always eat more resources than people expect. You get a nice drop, then suddenly you're broke trying to masterwork it. So yeah, I'd spend these last days farming efficiently instead of gambling on random activities. Forgotten Souls, gold, upgrade mats, all of it adds up fast. At the same time, don't leave the Seasonal Journey half done if you're close to the end. Cosmetics, titles, stash rewards, whatever's attached to it, those things sting more once they're gone. You'll tell yourself it didn't matter, then three months later you'll wish you'd finished it.
Get your head around Warlock nowThe new class is going to pull a lot of players away from their current mains, and I get it. Warlock is the big draw for plenty of people going into Lord of Hatred. Even without full live balance numbers, you can still prep in a smart way. Read the skill previews. Look at likely stat priorities. Think about whether you want a fast leveling route or a slower build-testing start. I wouldn't overcommit to some “perfect” launch build yet, but I would absolutely clear space in the stash, save class-friendly gear if it fits, and decide ahead of time whether Warlock is your first character or your second.
Clear the clutter and give yourself a clean launch dayLast thing, and it matters more than people admit: clean up your quest log and map. Starting a new campaign while juggling old side quests, half-finished errands, and leftover seasonal junk feels awful. It slows you down and makes the expansion feel messy before it even starts. I like going into a major patch with a clean screen, a tidy stash, and a healthy pile of Diablo 4 materials ready for the first real upgrades, because that's what lets you enjoy launch week instead of spending it buried in inventory menus.
